Fall Sunday Trios — Week 4 Recap

Unleash The Dragon and 4 Play Share the Lead

Four weeks are complete in the Fall Sunday Trios Division, and the race at the top continues to tighten.

Unleash The Dragon and 4 Play now share first place with 9 rounds won, with Unleash holding the current tiebreak advantage on Games Won, 42–36.

Team #1 made a big move back toward the top with a sweep and now sits alone in third at 8 rounds, while Chalk Of The Town continues its remarkably consistent start and also reaches 8.

Only three rounds separate first through eighth, leaving a large portion of the 16-team field firmly in contention.

Unleash Holds Onto First

Unleash The Dragon followed its Week 3 sweep with another victory, taking 2 of 3 rounds from MRJ.

That moves Unleash to 9 rounds and a 42–30 game record, giving them the standings edge over 4 Play.

Mario Barrette turned in another excellent performance, going 7–2 on the night and improving to 24–12, 66.7% through four weeks.

Unleash has now collected 7½ of the last 9 available rounds after opening the session with a 1½–1½ tie.

They remain unbeaten in matches at 3 wins and 1 tie.

4 Play Remains Perfect

4 Play continues to be one of the strongest stories of the Fall session.

A 2½–½ victory over Stick It To Em moves them into a tie for first with 9 rounds and improves their match record to a perfect 4–0.

Garland Tully added another 6–3 night and now sits at an impressive 19–8, 70.4% through three appearances.

While Unleash currently owns the Games Won tiebreak, 4 Play has yet to lose or tie a match this Fall.

Team #1 Bounces Back With a Sweep

After collecting only half a round against 4 Play in Week 3, Team #1 responded with a 3–0 sweep over Sour Grapes.

That vaults them from fifth to third at 8 rounds, while their 43 games won is actually the highest total in the division.

Greg Stewart also produced the strongest individual performance of Week 4, going an outstanding 8–1.

The sweep puts Team #1 right back into the championship conversation, only one round behind the leaders.

Chalk Of The Town Does It Again

Few teams have been as consistent as Chalk Of The Town.

They defeated Cue Teks 2–1, which means they have now won exactly two rounds in each of their first four matches.

That's an 8–4 round record and a perfect 4–0 match record.

Will Hazelton had an excellent 7–2 performance and moves to 23–13, 63.9% overall, while Shane Lawrence remains strong at 21–15.

Chalk Of The Town joins 4 Play as the only teams to have won each of their first four matches.

Bring It On Completes a Major Turnaround

Perhaps the biggest standings mover of Week 4 was Bring It On.

They swept defending Summer champions Less Talk, More Chalk 3–0, jumping from 10th place into fifth with 7 rounds.

Mike Draker went 6–3 and now sits at 25–11, 69.4%, while Bob Larabie and Kathy Larabie also contributed solid nights.

Bring It On's turnaround has been impressive.

After being swept 3–0 by Team #1 on opening night, they've responded by winning 7 of the next 9 available rounds and three consecutive matches.

Defending Champions Hit an Early Rough Patch

The other side of that result was a difficult night for Less Talk, More Chalk.

After sitting near the top following Week 2, the defending Summer champions have now collected only one round over their last two matches, including the Week 4 sweep.

They remain at 5½ rounds, but because of Games Won tiebreaks currently sit 12th in a crowded middle portion of the standings.

There's still plenty of time remaining, but it is one of the more surprising early developments of the Fall session.

Chalk Is Cheap and Hot Tips Finish Even

Chalk Is Cheap and Hot Tips couldn't be separated, finishing the night 1½–1½ in rounds and 9–9 in games.

Tom Gilmour produced another strong 6–3 performance and now stands at 24–12, 66.7% through four weeks.

Chalk Is Cheap moves to 6½ rounds, keeping them within striking distance of the leaders, while Hot Tips reaches 3½.

Our English Ain't Bad and The Spoilers Pick Up Wins

Our English Ain't Bad defeated Three Amigos 2–1, moving to 6 rounds and into eighth place.

Three Amigos falls to 5½ rounds despite maintaining a strong 41–31 game record.

The Spoilers also picked up an important 2–1 victory over Pool Boys, moving to 5½ rounds.

That creates a four-team group at 5½ involving Three Amigos, The Spoilers, MRJ and Less Talk, More Chalk, with Games Won currently separating them.

Strong Individual Performances

Week 4 featured several excellent individual nights.

The top performances included:

  • Greg Stewart — 8–1
  • Mario Barrette — 7–2
  • Will Hazelton — 7–2
  • Robbie Thompson — 7–2
  • Garland Tully — 6–3
  • Mike Draker — 6–3
  • Tom Gilmour — 6–3
  • Sergio Pingitore — 6–3
  • Dave Beaton — 6–3
  • Henry Koster — 6–3

Among players who have competed all four weeks, Mike Draker and Vince Brant now share the lead at 25–11 and 69.4%.

They're followed closely by:

Tom Gilmour — 24–12, 66.7%
Mario Barrette — 24–12, 66.7%
Will Hazelton — 23–13, 63.9%
JP Joseph — 23–13, 63.9%

George Hill remains at 72.2% through two appearances, while Garland Tully sits at 70.4% through three.

Standings After Week 4

The top of the Sunday division now looks like:

Unleash The Dragon — 9 rounds, 42 games won
4 Play — 9, 36

Team #1 — 8, 43
Chalk Of The Town — 8, 37

Bring It On — 7, 39
Chalk Is Cheap — 6.5, 39

Cue Teks — 6, 38
Our English Ain't Bad — 6, 37

Three Amigos, The Spoilers, MRJ and Less Talk, More Chalk are all at 5½ rounds.

With Rounds Won as the first standings measure followed by Games Won, several of those positions could change quickly with a single strong night.

A Week Off Before Week 5

Chalk Is Cheap vs. Chalk Of The Town
