October 19, 2026Fall Sunday Trios — Week 5 Recap
Team #1 Moves Back to the Top
Sunday Trios returned October 18 after the scheduled week off, and the standings immediately changed.
Team #1 and 4 Play now share the lead with 10 rounds, with Team #1 holding first place through a 52–42 advantage in Games Won.
Unleash The Dragon slips to third at 9½, while Chalk Is Cheap and Cue Teks both made big moves and are now tied at 9 rounds.
Only one round separates first through fifth, setting up an extremely tight race as the session approaches its middle stages.
Team #1 Reclaims First Place
Team #1 defeated Our English Ain't Bad 2–1, moving from 8 to 10 rounds and back into first place.
The teams split their 18 individual games 9–9, but Team #1 took two of the three rounds.
Combined with results elsewhere at the top, the victory was enough to move Team #1 from third to first.
Their 52 games won is also tied for the highest total in the entire division.
Hot Tips Hands Unleash Its First Match Loss
Perhaps the biggest result of Week 5 came from Hot Tips.
Entering the night in 15th place, Hot Tips knocked off the division leader 2½–½, handing Unleash The Dragon its first match loss of the Fall.
Hot Tips also won 11 of 18 individual games.
The result moves Hot Tips from 3½ to 6 rounds, while Unleash picks up only half a round and falls from first to third at 9½.
Unleash remains only half a round from the lead, but after opening the season with three wins and a tie, its unbeaten run is over.
Chalk Is Cheap Makes a Huge Move
Chalk Is Cheap produced one of the strongest performances of the week, defeating Chalk Of The Town 2½–½.
They also dominated the individual games 13–5, moving their season record to 52–38.
Tom Gilmour led the way with an outstanding 7–2 performance and now shares the best record among players who have competed all five weeks at 31–14, 68.9%. Pasted markdown
Chalk Is Cheap jumps from sixth to fourth place with 9 rounds.
Chalk Of The Town, meanwhile, suffers its first match loss after beginning the session 4–0 and drops to sixth at 8½.
Cue Teks Sweeps Into the Top Five
Cue Teks delivered the only 3–0 sweep of Week 5, taking all three rounds from Bring It On.
Cue Teks also won the individual games 12–6, moving them to 9 rounds and 50 games won.
Vince Brant added another strong 6–3 performance and joins Gilmour at 31–14, 68.9% for the session. Pasted markdown
Jack Jury had one of the night's biggest performances at 7–2, improving to 24–21 overall. Pasted markdown
After sitting seventh a week ago, Cue Teks is now only one round out of first.
Sour Grapes Knocks Off 4 Play
Another major surprise came from Sour Grapes, which defeated previously unbeaten 4 Play 2–1.
Sour Grapes won the individual-game battle 12–6, moving from 3 to 5 rounds.
The loss is 4 Play's first of the session after opening 4–0.
Even with the defeat, 4 Play remains tied for first with 10 rounds — although Team #1 now holds the Games Won advantage.
The result also means there are no longer any teams with a perfect match record.
Three Amigos Keeps Moving Up
Three Amigos continued its strong season with a 2–1 victory over defending Summer champions Less Talk, More Chalk.
Three Amigos won 12 of 18 individual games and moves to 7½ rounds and a division-best 53 games won.
JP Joseph went 6–3 and now sits at 29–16, while Dave Read also produced a 6–3 night and improves to 27–18.
Joseph remains among the leading five-week regulars at 64.4%, alongside Mike Draker. Pasted markdown
Less Talk, More Chalk picks up one round and remains in the lower half at 6½.
The Spoilers and MRJ Finish Dead Even
The Spoilers and MRJ couldn't be separated.
The match finished 1½–1½ in rounds and 9–9 in individual games.
Both teams now sit at 7 rounds, and both continue to hold winning or even game records through five weeks.
The Spoilers currently has 47 games won, while MRJ has 45.
Stick It To Em Picks Up Another Win
Stick It To Em defeated Pool Boys 2–1, despite the teams finishing dead even at 9–9 in games.
That moves Stick It To Em to 6 rounds, tying Hot Tips.
Pool Boys collects one round and now sits at 5.
Once again, it shows why the Sunday standings can’t be judged purely by total Games Won — ultimately, the three individual rounds determine the weekly standings points.
Several Players Post 7–2 Nights
Week 5 produced several excellent individual performances.
Tom Gilmour — 7–2
Jack Jury — 7–2
Larry Wood — 7–2
Mike McMurray — 7–2
There was also a large group at 6–3, including Vince Brant, JP Joseph, Dave Read, Mike Whiteman, Dave Beaton, Chris Bateman, Henry Koster, Mel McConnell, Mike Vaneck and Kristine Armstrong.
Among the players who have participated all five weeks, Gilmour and Brant currently lead at 31–14 and 68.9%, followed by Mike Draker and JP Joseph at 29–16 and 64.4%. Pasted markdown
Dave Read has climbed to 27–18 and 60%, while Shane Lawrence, Rodney Dier and Mario Barrette are all sitting at 26 wins. Pasted markdown
Standings After Week 5
The top half now looks like:
Team #1 — 10 rounds, 52 games won
4 Play — 10, 42
Unleash The Dragon — 9.5, 49
Chalk Is Cheap — 9, 52
Cue Teks — 9, 50
Chalk Of The Town — 8.5, 42
Three Amigos — 7.5, 53
The Spoilers, Our English Ain't Bad, Bring It On and MRJ all follow at 7 rounds.
That means only three rounds separate first through 11th, and just 1½ rounds separate first from sixth.
Week 6 Features Several Big Matchups
October 25 includes several matches that could dramatically change that group.
The biggest may be Unleash The Dragon vs. Chalk Of The Town, with both teams trying to rebound from their first losses.
Less Talk, More Chalk vs. Team #1 gives the defending champions a chance to slow the new leader, while Three Amigos vs. Cue Teks brings together two teams currently near the top in Games Won.
Other matchups are Chalk Is Cheap vs. Bring It On, Hot Tips vs. The Spoilers, Pool Boys vs. 4 Play, Sour Grapes vs. Our English Ain't Bad, and Stick It To Em vs. MRJ. Quinte BCA Pool League
Five Weeks In
The week off certainly didn't slow down the standings race.
Team #1 has returned to first, but 4 Play remains tied with them. Hot Tips stunned the previous leader, Chalk Is Cheap and Cue Teks surged into the Top 5, and both of the teams that entered Week 5 unbeaten suffered their first losses.
Three Amigos has quietly accumulated the most individual game wins in the division, while Gilmour and Brant have emerged as the early individual leaders among players who have competed every week.
