Poolhall Junkies Catches Unleash at the Top

Six weeks are complete in the Fall Tuesday 8-Ball Division, and the race has tightened again.

Unleash The Dragon and Poolhall Junkies now share the lead with 12 rounds won, with Unleash holding the Games Won tiebreak by a sizable 68–46 advantage.

Behind them, Lettuce Win and Classic Rock have both reached 10 rounds, giving us a new Top 4 heading into Week 7.

Only 3½ rounds separate first from 10th, though, so there is still very little breathing room anywhere near the front.

Classic Rock Knocks Off the Leader

After three straight strong weeks, Unleash The Dragon finally gave some ground, losing 2–1 to Classic Rock.

Interestingly, Unleash actually won 10 of the 18 individual games, while Classic Rock won eight. But once again, the handicap-adjusted round scores tell the story that matters in the standings.

Classic Rock's two rounds move them to 10 overall and into fourth place, while Unleash adds one and remains first at 12 because of the Games Won tiebreak.

Even with the loss, Unleash has still collected 9 of the last 12 available rounds after its Week 2 sweep loss.

Poolhall Sweeps Into a Share of First

Poolhall Junkies took full advantage of Unleash dropping two rounds by sweeping Hot Shots 3–0.

What makes this result particularly interesting is that the teams split the individual games 9–9.

Poolhall still won all three handicap-adjusted rounds.

That moves them from 9 to 12 rounds, tying Unleash for the division lead and continuing one of the more unusual statistical stories of the session. Poolhall now sits second despite a cumulative individual-game record of 46–62.

Kevin Brant had the standout individual night from the matchup, going 5–1 with 52 points.

Pho Cues Makes the Biggest Jump

Perhaps the biggest Week 6 result belonged to Pho Cues.

They swept Blues Cues 3–0, jumping from 6 rounds all the way to 9 and moving from the lower half of the table into sixth place.

Pho also dominated the individual-game side of the matchup, winning 13 of 18 games.

Dave Sinclair produced a 5–1, 57-point performance, while Brandon Cormier continued his strong session and has now reached 18–12, 60%.

The result was costly for Blues Cues, who entered Week 6 in fourth place at 8½ rounds but remained there after the sweep and slipped to ninth as other teams moved past.

Lettuce Win Ends Jinxies' Winning Streak

After back-to-back 3–0 sweeps, Jinxies Boys finally had their six-round winning streak stopped.

Lettuce Win took the match 2–1, moving to 10 rounds and third place.

Lettuce also won the individual-game battle 11–7, with Jon Wong going 4–2 and Val McMurray finishing 3–3.

McMurray now sits at 22–14, 61.1%, while Wong has improved to 21–15, 58.3%.

Jinxies remains very much in the picture at 8½ rounds through only five matches.

VGJ Puts Together One of the Best Team Nights

VGJ defeated GTA Boys 2–1, but the raw game result was much more dramatic.

VGJ won 14 of the 18 individual games.

JP Joseph and Vince Brant each went 5–1, while Gord Proud added a 4–2 night.

Joseph's 57-point performance moves him to the top of the individual standings at an impressive 27–9, 75% through six weeks.

Brant also scored 56 and improves to 20–16 overall.

VGJ climbs to 8 rounds, keeping them within striking distance of the crowded group ahead.

Here For Beers Keeps Moving Up

After sitting out Week 5 with the bye, Here For Beers returned with a 2–1 victory over Rack Em Up.

Rack Em Up actually held a 10–8 advantage in individual games, but Here For Beers captured two of the handicap-adjusted rounds.

That moves Here For Beers to 9 rounds through only five matches, putting them level with Give Us a Break, Pho Cues and GTA Boys.

The defending Summer champions from Rack Em Up remain at the other end of the early standings picture with 5 rounds through five matches.

3 Some and BSB Boys Pick Up Important Wins

3 Some defeated Bonnie's Ball Breakers 2–1, with 3 Some winning the individual-game battle 11–7.

Dawn Henderson had one of the strongest individual performances of Week 6 at 5–1 with 52 points, improving her season record to 21–15.

BSB Boys also picked up two rounds against Blue Balls.

BSB won the individual games 10–8 and moves to 8 rounds, while Blue Balls settles at 7.

Several Players Go 5–1

There were no 6–0 performances among the Week 6 regulars, but several players came very close with 5–1 nights:

• Kevin Brant — 52

JP Joseph now leads the overall standings at 27–9 and 75%.

Mike Draker moves to 25–11, 69.4%, while Eric Ricard and Chris Bateman are both 23–13, 63.9%.

Gerry Cunningham also continues to perform well at 20–10, 66.7% through five appearances, while Dave Sinclair has climbed to 19–11, 63.3%.

Top 4 Has a New Look

After Week 6, the leaders are:

Just behind them are Give Us a Break and Pho Cues at 9 rounds and 49 games won apiece. Their head-to-head matchup isn't scheduled until October 20, so they remain tied on the first two official standings measures for now. Quinte BCA Pool League

GTA Boys and Here For Beers are also at 9 rounds, followed by Blues Cues and Jinxies Boys at 8½.

So while there is now a defined Top 4, only 1½ rounds separate third place from 10th.

Week 7 Has Some Big Matches

October 13 includes several matchups that could immediately reshape that group.

GTA Boys vs. Poolhall Junkies gives GTA a chance to pull closer while Poolhall tries to take sole possession of first.

VGJ vs. Classic Rock is another important matchup for the Top 4 race, while Blues Cues vs. Jinxies Boys features two teams currently tied at 8½ rounds.

Unleash The Dragon faces Bonnie's Ball Breakers, Give Us a Break meets Rack Em Up, Here For Beers plays Pho Cues, Hot Shots faces Lettuce Win, and Blue Balls meets 3 Some.

Six Weeks In

Week 6 changed the shape of the Fall race again.

Unleash The Dragon is still officially first, but Poolhall Junkies has caught them in rounds. Lettuce Win and Classic Rock have moved into the Top 4, Pho Cues made one of the biggest single-week jumps of the session, and Jinxies Boys finally had its six-round winning streak stopped.

The handicap continues to play a major role as well. Poolhall swept despite a 9–9 individual-game split, Classic Rock beat Unleash despite losing more individual games, and Here For Beers captured two rounds while Rack Em Up won more games.

At the individual level, JP Joseph has taken over the top spot at 75%, while several players remain closely grouped behind.

With 11 weeks remaining and only 1½ rounds separating third through 10th, the battle for the four Fall standings payout positions is becoming increasingly crowded.
