Division Review

September 2, 2026

Fall Tuesday 8-Ball

Record-Setting Session Gets Underway

The biggest Tuesday 8-Ball session in Quinte BCA history officially broke on September 1, with a record 17 teams beginning the 17-week Fall schedule at Stix & Stones Billiards.

That’s five more teams than competed during the Summer session and gives the division its largest field ever. The Fall session also welcomes nine players completely new to Tuesday 8-Ball, along with several new-look teams bringing even more competition to Tuesday nights.

And if opening night is any indication, some of those newcomers are ready to make an immediate impact.

New Teams Make an Immediate Impact

Two new teams sit at the top after Week 1.

Unleash The Dragon opened with a perfect 3 rounds, winning 12 of 18 individual games. Eric Ricard led the way with a 5–1 record, Chris Bateman went 4–2 and Steve Melch finished 3–3.

Give Us a Break also captured all three rounds and posted the highest team point total of opening night at 164 points. Their 9–9 individual-game record is also a good early example of how the league’s handicap system balances matchups, with adjusted round scoring determining the rounds won rather than individual game wins alone.

Two more new teams enjoyed strong debuts.

BSB Boys went an impressive 13–5 in individual games while collecting two rounds. Bob Shore produced one of the best performances of the night at 5–1 with 57 points, while Steve Neild and Brendan McGlynn each finished 4–2.

Blue Balls also earned two rounds in their first match of the session.

The other new team names — Pho Cues, VGJ and Jinxies Boys — round out seven additions to the Tuesday field. Jinxies Boys received the opening-week bye and will make their Fall debut in Week 2.

Familiar Teams Start Strong

Several returning teams also wasted no time getting started.

GTA Boys matched BSB Boys with a 13–5 individual-game record while collecting two rounds. Jim Warren went 5–1 with 56 points, while Gary Cassibo and Jim Smith each added 4–2 nights.

Poolhall Junkies picked up two rounds while recording 163 team points. Ryan Persaud and Kevin Brant both opened 4–2, with Pascal Bilodeau finishing 3–3.

Blues Cues and Bonnie’s Ball Breakers also started the Fall session with two-round performances, while defending Summer champions Rack Em Up opened with one round.

With the handicap system helping balance teams of different playing strengths, rounds won will remain the most important standings number as the season develops.

Five Players Open at 5–1

The individual standings are already tightly packed, with five players opening the Fall session at 5–1 and 83.3%.

Bob Shore takes the early top spot with 57 points and a 9.5 average, followed by Jim Warren with 56 points. Greg Stewart recorded 53 points, Eric Ricard 51 and Dave Read 50.

A large group sits immediately behind them at 4–2.

Strong opening-night performances included Rick Brant with 54 points, Ryan Persaud, Fern Porlier and Steve Neild with 53 each, along with Chris Bateman, Mike Draker and Brendan McGlynn at 52.

It’s only six individual games, so there is plenty of pool still ahead, but Week 1 gave both returning players and some of the division’s newer faces an opportunity to make an early impression.

Opening-Week Standings

After Week 1:

Unleash The Dragon — 3 rounds
Give Us a Break — 3
BSB Boys — 2
GTA Boys — 2
Poolhall Junkies — 2
Blues Cues — 2
Bonnie’s Ball Breakers — 2
Blue Balls — 2

With handicap-adjusted scoring used within each round, overall individual games won and team points provide useful performance information, but Rounds Won remains the key number that determines the standings.

With 16 weeks still ahead, Week 1 is only the starting point.

Bigger Division — More Support

The growth of Tuesday 8-Ball is being matched by continued growth away from the tables.

This Fall, Quinte BCA welcomes Dragon Billiards Instruction and AVO Gameroom as its two newest league partners.

They join:

Stix & Stones Billiards
Bonnie’s Auto Spa
Carter Custom Cues
Kamikaze Cue Tips
G&J Cue Repair

That brings Quinte BCA to seven partners supporting the Fall Tuesday division and its players.

The Fall session also features a doubled Top Finishers payout pool that now rewards the Top 4 teams, expanded Player Improvement giveaways and continued work at Stix & Stones to provide some of the best playing conditions in the area.

A New Fall Race Begins

17 teams. Nine new Tuesday players. Seven league partners. Seven new team names.

And already plenty of strong performances after just one night.

Unleash The Dragon and Give Us a Break set the early pace with three-round starts, BSB Boys and GTA Boys produced excellent individual-game results, and five players opened the season with 5–1 records.

The defending Summer champions from Rack Em Up now have the largest field in Tuesday division history trying to take their place.

There are still 16 weeks of pool ahead, but the biggest Tuesday 8-Ball session Quinte BCA has ever hosted is officially underway.
